These are very good videos for inspiration and getting ready for the new school year. Here in the States we are on summer break. It is always a good time to reflect on what went well and get a new focus and motivation for the new school year.  Personally, I didn't really think I would ever end up as a teacher. I kind of fell into teaching and eventhough it wasn't a direct career choice, I have grown to appreciate my role in this profession.  I really liked the practical advise in the second video, "The Art of Teaching". I have been an educator for the past 16 years and every year brings new challenges and rewards. For me it isn't about being a great teacher. I am more concerned in being an effective teacher. I need to have clear objectives and methodologies that I consistently implement thoughout the school year. I am the adult in the classroom and I like the advise "take it with a grain of salt". I don't necessarily think I employ all these strategies. Having this basic awareness and having a plan is definitely a step in the right direction.  There will are always new programs and strategies that will make the "master teacher". The important aspect about teaching to me is being able to adapt and relearn.  For me, more than ever, this involves my connections and conversations with other educators on the net. Our impacts on these students lives may not be immediately visible but, nevertheless I try to stay focused.  So, share what works for you? How do you get ready for the new school year?
